Ahh, Puglia. This small region in the heel of the Italian boot is quickly becoming popular, so get there NOW. When we went in the heat of July, it was crowded at times but there were still ways to get away from it all. And the charm is oozing from every tiny hill top village and ocean vista. Matera (not technically in Puglia) was the highlight. It was definitely hard to imagine that a place this steeped in history has remained untouched for so long.
